Mustangs Impress in Loaded Field at Gotham Cup

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Stevenson men's indoor track and field team opened up the new year with several impressive performances at the NYC Gotham Cup, held at Ocean Breeze Park, which featured schools from Divison I, II and III.

Junior Iddriss Iddriss placed fourth overall and first among Division III runners in the 800 meter run with a 1:57.44. Iddriss' time not only earned him a spot into the ECAC Indoor Championships, but also gave him the top time in the Mideast region. In the 400, Iddriss placed third among DIII runners with a 50.79, which gave him another spot into ECAC's and top-10 regional ranking.

In the mile, senior Langston Gash placed first among DIII runners and fourth overall with a 4:23.85, which has him ranked in the top-five regionally.

Sophomore Dereck Davis placed first among DIII athletes and fourth overall in the 60m dash with a personal-best time of 6.96. Davis' time is currently second-best in the region. Senior Kendall Belser clocked a 7.14 to take 20th overall out of 82 athletes. Belser would also take 11th overall in the 200 with a 22.36, which is currently a top-10 time in the region.

The Mustangs compete next at the two-day Bison Open & Multi meet, hosted by Bucknell University, starting on Friday, January 25.
