STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team took Division II Pfeiffer to five sets and nearly pulled off a win in sets one and three versus No. 5-ranked Medialle, but were edged in both, dropping a 30-19, 23-30, 28-30, 30-19, 15-11 decision to Pfeiffer and a 34-32, 30-22, 30-27 defeat to Medaille Saturday at Student Union Gymnasium.
Sophomore Jason Matkowski (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) totaled a career-high 25 kills versus Pfeiffer while senior David Lloyd (Germantown/Seneca Valley) posted his fourth double double of the season with 10 kills and 16 digs.
After dropping the first set, the Mustangs (10-10) won the next two to take a 2-1 lead. They built a five-point lead in the second, expanding an 18-16 advantage to 24-19, before taking a 20-16 lead in the third and holding on for a two-point victory.

In the fifth, the set was tied at 9-9 before Pfeiffer used back-to-back kills from Michael Dahlle and Clancy Gay and an Mustang attack error to take a three-point advantage. Following a Stevenson timeout, the Falcons scored three of the final five points to snap a five-game losing streak.
Micah Bortner had 22 kills to lead four Falcons who had at least 10 while Mark Hess had 28 digs and Evan Fullerton had 63 assists.
Freshman Trevor Parham (Philadelphia, Pa./John Dickinson) had eight kills, two shy of his career-high, and a career-high four digs while freshman Kyle Diller (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) tied his career-high for the third time this season with 12 digs.

However, Medaille would stave off the upset bid with three-straight kills, including two from Nick Johnson and one from Ryan Murdie, both of whom finished with 10 to lead the team.
Stevenson led by as many as five in the second set, 25-20, but Medaille scored 10 of the last 12 points, including four on errors by the Mustangs.
