Mustangs Receive First-Ever AVCA National Ranking, Ranked at No. 12
LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the first time in school history, the Stevenson men's volleyball team has been ranked in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll as the Mustangs received 58 points in the third poll of the season released on Tuesday, placing them in a tie with Medaille.
Stevenson received six votes in the first poll of the season released on Tuesday, putting the team at No. 17.
The Mustangs went 3-1 last week with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 win over No. 2 Carthage on Friday in a CVC Crossover at Thiel's Beeghly Gymnasium. The team also posted victories over Thiel and Cazenovia before taking its first set in three all-time meetings against No. 4 Juniata before falling 23-25, 25-17, 18-25, 20-25.
Carthage and Juniata each fell two spots to No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
Stevenson is scheduled to play against 11 teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in this week's poll. In addition to Carthage and Juniata, Stevenson has games against No. 3 UC Santa Cruz, No. 5 Stevens, No. 7 NYU, No. 8 SUNY New Paltz, No. 10 Rivier, No. 11 Elmira, No. 14 Vassar and No. 15 MIT. Emmanuel is also receiving seven votes.
The Mustangs travel to Stevens on Saturday where they will play Hunter at 1:00 p.m., and the fifth-ranked Ducks at 3:00 p.m.
