Mustangs Split Last Two at Baruch Invitational, Jacoby Named All-Tournament

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Stevenson men's volleyball junior Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) totaled 32 kills and a .329 hitting percentage while earning All-Tournament First Team honors at the Baruch Invitational as the Mustangs split their final two matches versus No. 11 Elmira and No. 15 MIT Sunday at ARC Arena.

Stevenson (9-4), who is now 4-4 against teams ranked in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, swept Elmira for the second time this season 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 before dropping its second five-set game of the season to MIT, 21-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-23, 9-15.

Jacoby was named to the All-Tournament First Team after posting 63 kills, 29 digs and six block assists in four games, including three against nationally-ranked opponents. He averaged 3.94 kills per set while posting a .362 hitting percentage.

Jacoby had 13 kills and six digs in the opener against Elmira while junior Jon Martin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) totaled eight kills, six assists, nine digs and four block assists.

In four tournament games, Martin had 43 kills, 50 digs and 11 block assists.

Freshman Patrick Schuyler (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had seven kills and five digs against the Soaring Eagles (9-7) while sophomore Kyle Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) added six kills and three block assists.

Against MIT (11-7), Jacoby had a team-high 19 kills with a .310 hitting percentage and eight digs. Martin totaled 15 kills, 10 digs and three block assists while Wisner had 17 kills, one shy of his career-high. He also posted a .483 hitting percentage and five digs.

Defensively, junior Adam Thatcher (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Schuyler totaled 24 and 14 digs, respectivley, both career-highs Sophomore David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) totaled 54 assists and 11 digs.

Stevenson returns to action next Saturday, March 2 with two games at Juniata against Hilbert and No. 4 Stevens.
