LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team was ranked in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll for the third-straight week on Tuesday, climbing one spot to the program's highest-ever ranking at No. 11. The Mustangs received 77 points.
After receiving votes in the first two polls of the season, Stevenson received the program's first-ever national ranking at No. 12 on February 12.
The Mustangs went 3-1 last week, including 2-1 against teams ranked in the top 15. They posted a 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21 win over No. 10 Rivier before sweeping No. 11 Elmira for the second time this season, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21.
Stevenson also battled No. 15 MIT to five sets before falling 21-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-23, 9-15.
MIT (No. 13), Rivier (No. 14) and Elmira (No. 15) are just three of the 11 teams on the Mustangs' 2013 schedule that are currently ranked in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll. Stevenson also has games against No. 3 Juniata, No. 4 Carthage, No. 5 UC Santa Cruz, No. 6 Stevens, No. 7 SUNY New Paltz, No. 8 NYU, No. 10 Baruch and No. 12 Vassar.
Emmanuel, who the Mustangs beat 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18 on Saturday, is also receiving eight votes, placing them at No. 16.
Stevenson travels to Juniata on Saturday where it will play No. 6 Stevens at 2:00 p.m., and Hilbert at 4:30 p.m. The Mustangs fell to Stevens earlier this season on February 16, 19-25, 23-25, 21-25.
