LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 9 in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll for the highest ranking in school history on Tuesday as the Mustangs received 111 points, 19 points ahead of No. 10 Vassar.
Stevenson has been ranked in the national poll for six consecutive weeks, achieving the program's first-ever national ranking on February 12 at No. 12 before moving up to No. 11 on February 26. The Mustangs also received votes in the first two polls of the season.
The Mustangs went 3-2 last week, taking two from No. 8 NYU over the weekend and defeating CVC rival Eastern Mennonite in five sets last Tuesday. As a result, NYU fell to No. 11 in this week's poll.
Eleven teams on Stevenson's 2013 schedule are ranked in this week's AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll. In addition to No. 11 NYU, the Mustangs also play No. 3 Carthage, No. 4 Juniata, No. 5 UC Santa Cruz, No. 6 Stevens, No. 7 SUNY New Paltz, No. 8 Baruch, No. 10 Vassar, No. 13 Elmira, No. 14 MIT and No. 15 Rivier.
Stevenson, who is 7-7 against ranked teams this season, will host a quad match featuring No. 7 SUNY New Paltz, Penn State Altoona and Eastern Mennonite this weekend.
