Mustangs Sweep D'Youville in Double Header

Dundalk, MD.-

The Mustangs hosed D'Youville in a double-header this afternoon at CCBC-Dundalk field.  The Mustangs won both games to improve their record to 8-8.  Freshman Sarah Moelter (Timonium, MD/ Dulaney) pitched a shutout for the first game and Tricia Spinoso (Jarrettsville,MD/ North Harford) grabbed the second win for the Mustangs. 

Game 1: The Mustangs won 10-0 in 5 innings.  Villa Julie had nine hits and D'Youville had five hits.  Moelter pitched five strikeouts, allowed five hits and two walks.  Offensively, Jessica O'Neill (Howard County, MD/ Howard) went 1 for 2 and had two runs; Liz Penniman (Dayton, MD/ Glenelg) went 2 for 3; Lindsay Mueller (Fallston, MD/ Fallston) went 2 for 3, had a triple, and three RBIs; and Jackie Dorsey (Eldersburg, MD/ Liberty) went 2 for 3 with one RBI. 

Game 2: Villa won 3-0 in 7 innings.  The Mustangs had six hits and D'Youville had four hits.  Spinoso pitched seven strikeouts and gave up three hits.  O'Neill came in with the save in the seventh inning and pitched two strikeouts and gave up one hit.  Offensively, Penniman went 1 for 1; Moelter went 1 for 3 and had two RBIs; Samantha Rice (Howard County, MD/ Howard) went 1 for 2; and Dorsey went 2 for 3. 

The Mustangs travel to Mary Washington tomorrow to play a double-header at 1:00 pm.
