Mustangs fall to Sailsbury in double-header
Salisbury, MD.- The Salisbury Seagulls
dominated their home field this afternoon beating the Mustangs 7-1
and 3-2. After today's games, the Mustangs' record falls to
15-19 overall and remains 9-7 in the NEAC.
GAME 1: Villa lost 7-1. They had two hits to
Sailsbury's seven. Sarah Moelter (Timonium,
MD/ Dulaney) pitched six innings and had seven hits, four walks,
one strikeout, allowed seven earned runs. Liz
Penninman (Dayton, MD/ Glenelg) scored the solo homerun to
get the Mustangs on the board. In addition, she went 1 for 3
and had one RBI. Jessie O'Neill (Howard
County, MD/ Howard) went 1 for 3.
GAME 2: Villa outhit the Seagulls 10-6 and fell short of the
win in the bottom of the 7th, 3-2. O'Neill
pitched seven innings with six hits, three strikeouts, three runs,
and one earned run. Offensively, Lindsey
Mueller (Fallston, MD/ Fallston) went 4 for 4;
Penniman went 2 for 3 with two scored runs;
O'Neill went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs;
Samantha Rice (Howard County, MD/ Howard) went 1
for 3; and Moelter went 1 for 3.
O'Neill had a career game at the mound as well as
at bat against the Seagulls.
The Mustangs travel to Baptist Bible on Saturday, April 28, for a
1:00 conference double-header.
