Mustangs Dominate on Day 2
Myrtle Beach, SC - The Mustangs only allowed two runs in day two of their Spring Break, defeating Elizabethtown 6-1 and Green Mountain College 12-1.
The Mustangs played conservatively against Elizabethtown holding on to the win, 2-1 until the 7th inning where they scored 4 runs. They had 10 hits to E-town's 6. Sarah Moelter (Timonium, MD/Dulaney) earned the win, pitching 96 pitches with one earned run, five strikeouts, allowing only two walks, and six hits. This makes Moelter's record 2-1 on the season.
Offensively, Emily Roper (Baltimore, MD/Western
Tech) went 1 for 3 with a double; Jacquelyn Dorsey
(Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a
double; Jackie Wineke (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen
Burnie) went 1 for 3 with an RBI; Jessica
Bandzwolek (Fallston, MD/Fallston) went 1 for 2;
Jessica O'Neill (Columbia, MD/Howard) went 2 for 4
with an RBI; Laura Bedgar (Glen Rock,
PA/Susquehannock) went 1 for 3 with an RBI;
Lindsay Mueller (Fallston, MD/Fallston) went 2 for
4 with a double; and Liz Penniman (Dayton,
MD/Glenelg) went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
The Mustangs let loose in the second game against Green Mountain
where Michelle January (Baltimore, MD/Eastern
Tech) earned her first collegiate win. January
pitched two strikeouts, allowed only three hits, and one run.
At bat, she went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
The Mustangs out-hit Green Mountain 14-3. Dorsey, J. went 1 for 2; Wineke went 1 for 3 with an RBI; Bandzwolek went 2 for 4 with an RBI; O'Neill went 3 for 4 with an RBI; Mueller went 2 or 3 with an RBI; Penniman went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs; and Lorin McKee (Milford, DE/Milford) went 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
After a great day of play, the Mustangs will take tomorrow off and return to the fields on Thursday to play against Neumann and Elizabethtown.
