Mustangs Go 1-1 on Day 3

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Mustangs returned to the field today to take on Neumann and Elizabethtown after having the day off.  Freshman Jessica Bandzwolek (Fallston, MD/Fallston) had the performance of the day going 4 for 6 with three doubles, three RBIs, and a homerun shot. 

In game one, the Mustangs outhit Neumann 10-6 in the 5-1 win.  Sarah Moelter (Timonium, MD/Dulaney) pitched four strikeouts, one earned run, and allowed only six hits.  Offensively, Jacquelyn Dorsey (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) went 2 for 4 with a double; Jessica O'Neill (Columbia, MD/Howard) went 1 for 3 with a double; Lindsay Mueller (Fallston, MD/Fallston) went 1 for 4 with a double; Lorin McKee (Milford, DE/Milford) went 1 for 1 with a double; Samantha Rice (Columbia, MD/Howard) went 2 for 3 with an RBI; and Bandzwolek went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a three-run homer. 

The Mustangs fell off in the second game of the day.  After defeating Elizabethtown 6-1 earlier in the week, E-Town came back and beat the Mustangs 12-0.  Julianne Roper (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech) pitched for three innings and allowed 9 hits, 10 runs, 8 earned runs, and had five strikeouts.  Michelle January (Baltimore, MD/Eastern Tech) pitched 1.66 innings and allowed two hits, two earned runs, and had one strikeout. 

The offensive brightspots of the day were Bandzwolek who went 1 for 2 with a double and Bedgar who went 1 for 1. 

The Mustangs' double-header against PSU-Berks is cancelled for tomorrow due to inclement weather.  They are heading home to take on Washington College on Saturday for their home opener.
