Softball Drops Two to Mary Washington
Owings Mills, MD- The Lady Mustangs (5-7, 0-4) took on CAC-opponent Mary Washington (16-7, 4-0) in today's double-header. The Mustangs played tough but dropped both games to the Eagles.
In the first game, the Mustangs fell 9-1 to Mary Washington. They were out-hit 11-4. Samantha Rice (Columbia, MD/ Howard) scored the lone run for the Mustangs in the 5th. Sarah Moelter (Timonium, MD/ Dulaney) pitched for 6 innings allowing 11 hits, 8 runs, 7 earned runs, and striking out 3 players. Michelle January (Baltimore, MD/ Eastern Tech) came in and pitched for 1 inning allowing only 1 run.
In the second game, the Mustangs gave the Eagles more of a fight. Villa scored their first run in the 4th inning to make the score 4-1, then went on to come within one run, 6-5, of the lead after scoring four runs in the 5th inning. Lindsey Mueller (Fallston, MD/ Fallston), Liz Penniman (Dayton, MD/Glenelg), Jessica O'Neill (Columbia, MD/ Howard), Jessica Bandzwolek (Fallston, MD/ Fallston) along with Rice each scored one run for the Mustangs. Julianne Roper (Baltimore, MD/ Western Tech) threw for 4 innings allowing 10 hits, 6 runs, and 5 earned runs. J. O'Neill came in and allowed 5 hits, 8 runs, 6 earned runs, and struck-out 2 batters.
The Mustangs take a few days off to prepare for a double-header at York College on Wednesday the 26th at 2:30 pm.
