Softball Drops Two Games at Salisbury

Salisbury, MD -  The Villa Julie Softball team dropped two hard games to Salisbury in today's CAC action.  The Mustangs gave it all they had, but fell short 1-5 and 1-11 in the double-header. 

In the first game, Sarah Moelter pitched 88 pitches in 4 innings striking out two batters and giving up 4 hits, 3 walks, and only 1 earned run.  Moelter pitched the best 4 innings of her career, keeping the Seagulls to a tie 1-1 score at the bottom of the 4th.  Julianne Roper came in for 2 innings and stuck out one runner, gave up 7 hits, and 4 earned runs.

Freshman Julianne Roper stepped off the mound for her first time at bat in her collegiate career and went 1 for 1 with an assist; Jessica Bandzwolek went 1 for 3 with an RBI, 2 assists, and 3 defensive put-outs; Liz Penniman went 1 for 3 with 2 assists; Laura Bedgar went 1 for 3 with an assist and 3 defensive put-outs; Jackie Dorsey went 1 for 3 and had 2 put-outs; and Sam Rice scored the Mustangs' only run of the day along with an assist and 5 put-outs.

In game two, the Mustangs fell farther away from the Seagulls.  Jessie O'Neill pitched 3 innings and gave up 7 hits, 1 walk, and 7 earned runs.  Roper came in and pitched for 1 inning giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, and 4 earned runs. 

On the field, Bandzwolek went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a defensive assist; Lindsey Mueller went 1 for 1, scoring the only run of the game for the Mustangs, and had 1 put-out; Rice went 1 for 3 with 2 put-outs; O'Neill went 1 for 2 with 3 assists; and Penniman went 1 for 2. 

The Mustangs have no rest after today's grueling games and travel to Wesley for a double-header tomorrow.
