Bandzwolek and Penniman Gain CAC Softball Honors

Owings Mills, MD - Villa Julie College Softball players Jessica Bandzwolek and Elizabeth Penniman have been honored for their stunning performances by the Capital Athletic Conference in their end of season awards.

In the Mustang's first season in the Capital Athletic Conference, Villa Julie finished in third place in the CAC Tournament after causing two upsets against Wesley and York College. The team has been rewarded for their excellent showing with utility player Jessica Bandzwolek (Fallston, Md./Fallston) being selected by the CAC coaches as the 2008 Rookie of the Year. This is an amazing achievement for Bandzwolek and one that is thoroughly deserved. Bandzwolek was named on the All-Conference team as a Utility Player. During the 12 CAC games this season she played 3rd Base or Short-Stop. On offense, Bandzwolek had 7 runs, 17 hits, 7 RBI's, and 7 Doubles with a slugging percentage of .614 and a batting average of .436. On defense, she totaled 10 Put-outs, and 30 assists with a field percentage of 0.917 at third base and 0.947 at short-stop. 

Joining Bandzwolek on the all-conference team from Villa Julie was Senior Elizabeth Penniman (Dayton, Md./Glenelg). In her final year as a Mustang, Designated Player Penniman had 5 runs, 18 hits, 6 RBI's, and 3 doubles with a slugging percentage of .568 and a batting average of .486. On defense, Liz had 7 assists and a field percentage of .875.
