Penniman Collects 100th Career RBI In Win
Owings Mills, MD - The Villa Julie College Softball team continued their impressive form from finishing 3rd in the CAC Tournament last weekend by sweeping the double header against Penn State Berks. Elizabeth Penniman collected her 100th Career RBI, making history as the first Villa Julie player to reach this milestone.
In Game 1, the Mustangs exploded with the bat, winning 12-0 and earning another shutout for pitcher Sarah Moelter. Moelter continued her impressive season at the mound by halting the Penn State Berks offense. Sarah only gave up 1 hit, no walks, struck out 4, and with no runs scored. On offense the Mustangs lit up the ballpark with some impressive perfomances at the plate. Jackie Wineke went 1 for 3 (1 RBIs), Emily Roper was 2 for 3 (3 RBIs), Liz Penniman went 3 for 3 (1 double, 2 RBIs, and 3 Runs scored), Lindsey Mueller was 2 for 2 (3 Runs Scored), Laura Bedgar went 1 for 3 (1 RBI), CAC Rookie of the Year Jessica Bandzwolek went 1 for 3 (2 run scored and 1 RBI), Sam Rice was 1 for 4 and Kelly Dorsey 1 for 3 (1 RBI).
The 2nd game to the delight of the Mustang supporters was much like the first. The Mustangs came out on fire, cruising to a 15-0 victory. Julianne Roper pitched all five innings, recording the shutout and her first No Hitter of the season. In five innings Roper gave up no hits, 1 walk, struck out 8, and no runs scored. At bat, Elizabeth Penniman made Villa Julie College history by becoming the first player to collect 100 Career RBI's. Penniman was 3 for 4 (1 Double, 2 RBIs and 3 Runs scored). Lindsey Mueller had a very rewarding day at the plate, going 3 for 4 (2 Doubles, 3 Runs scored, and 3 RBIs) along with Jessica Bandzwolek who went 3 for 4 (1 Double, 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored - 3 assists) and Jackie Wineke who went 3 for 3 (1 Triple, 1 RBI and 3 Runs scored). Also at the plate, Emily Roper went 1 for 2, Laura Bedgar 2 for 2 (1 RBI), Sam Rice 1 for 3 (1 RBI), Jayme Kekich 1 for 1 (1 RBI and 2 Runs scored) and Kelly Dorsey 2 for 4 (1 Double and 2 RBIs) helped complete the rout.
