Mustangs Drop Non-Conference Doubleheader at No. 25 Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - After suffering an 8-0 loss in game one of a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at No. 25, the Stevenson softball team scored two runs in the top of the second of game two to tie the game at 2-2 before falling 10-2 at Henkel-Harris Stadium.

The Mustangs (4-8) suffered their third-straight loss and third in as many road games this season.

In the opener, Shenandoah's Brooke Over threw her first no-hitter of the season and the third of her career while totaling 11 strikeouts and facing three batters over the minimum.

The Hornets (9-3), who were ranked in the NFCA Division III Top 25 for the first time in school history on March 7, scored six runs in the bottom of the third, four of which came on a two-run single by Denise Mitchell and a two-run triple by Morgan Coble.

Freshman Briana Pichalski (Port Reading, N.J./Woodbridge) suffered the loss after allowing 11 hits and eight runs, only three of which were earned, over 4.2 innings.

Shenandoah jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two before Stevenson tied the game with two runs in the top of the second on RBI singles by freshman Stephanie Ayres (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) and senior Kristin Urban (Timonium, Md./Mercy).

However, the Hornets scored eight runs over the final three innings, including two in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to earn its third consecutive victory.

Ayres and Urban each finished 1-for-3 with one RBI while sophomore Lindsay Kuczak (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and senior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) each had two hits. Bilski was 2-for-2 with a walk and Kuczak was 2-for-3.

Freshman Katie Diller (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) suffered the loss, surrendering 11 hits and six earned runs over 4.2 innings.

The Mustangs travel to Washington, D.C., for a non-conference doubleheader versus Catholic on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
