BALTIMORE, Md. - Stevenson softball freshman Kristen Mueller (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) hit her first career homerun to help lead the Mustangs in a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Penn State Harrisburg Sunday at Seton Keough High School.
The Mustangs (10-6) won their six straight game making it their longest win streak since the 2009 season when they also won six in a row.
After not managing a hit in the first two innings, Stevenson managed three hits and four runs in the third inning all with two outs, including a three-run homer by Mueller.
Mueller went 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs in game one.
Freshman Laura Welch (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) earned her first career victory as she allowed one earned run and struck out three.
In game two, the Mustangs fell behind 1-0 before unloading for five runs in the bottom of the first inning highlighted by a two RBI double from freshman Stephanie Shupe (Lakewood, Wash./Lakes).
Freshman Tiffany Kahl (Glen Burnie, Md./Seton Keough) returned to her former school going 4-for-8 on the day with three runs and three RBIs.
Fellow classman Kaitlyn Seger (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) went 3-for-5 with one run, extending her hitting streak to four games.
Shupe went 2-for-3 in game two while also earning the victory in the circle, allwoing only three hits and striking out five.
Stevenson faces Lebanon Valley in a Commonwealth doubleheader on Thursday, March 28 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Location is TBA.
