ANNVILLE, Pa. - On Tuesday, Stevenson softball freshman Kristen Mueller (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team while sophomore Stephanie Ayres (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) was named Honorable Mention.
This is the third and fourth all-conference selections for the Mustangs (19-19, 8-10 MAC) in two seasons under head coach Joey Lye.
As a utility player, Mueller has started in all 38 of the team's games this season while leading the team with six doubles, five triples, two home runs, 23 RBIs and nine stolen bases. She is third on the team with a .345 batting average, second with 40 hits and third with 20 runs.
From March 28 to April 13, Mueller had an eight-game hitting streak, tied for best on the team this season. She also ranks second on the team with 10 multi-hit games.
Ayres earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season after being named to the All-CAC First Team a year ago. She has started 35 games this season and is currently second on the team with 22 runs and third with 35 hits and three doubles. She is also hitting .318 while owning a team-best .407 on-base percentage.
Ayres leads the team with 13 multi-hit games while ranking third with seven steals. She also hit her first career home run on April 13.
Stevenson plays Hood in the opening game of the 2013 Commonwealth Conference Softball Championship on Friday, May 3 at Lebanon Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
