VJC 61, PSU 50

Stevenson, MD.- Villa Julie hosted the PSU-Berks Nittany Lions in today's game. 

Villa took the immediate lead within 30 seconds of the game off of a three-pointer by Cara Hill (Oxon Hill, MD/ Oxon Hill).  At 15:38, PSU gained their only lead of the day when Courtney Bailey hit a layup to put them ahead 6-5.  After that, Villa dominated the glass and went up by as many as 21 points when Ashley Burrell (Baltimore, MD/ Institute of Notre Dame) sunk a layup after Hill stole the ball from PSU's Bailey.  At the end of the first half, the Mustangs were ahead 36-21 and Hill already tallied 14 points for the team.   

In the second half, Villa took their largest lead of the day, 44-21, when Tonia Cristino (Lancaster, PA/ Hempfield) made a layup at 14:19.  After that, PSU started to come back; however, it wasn't enough to take control of the lead.  The Mustangs ended the game ahead 61-50. 

With the win, their record climbs to 13-7 overall and 10-3 in the NEAC.  Top scorer for the day was PSU's Courtney Bailey with 24 points and 18 boards.  Top scorers for the Mustangs were Hill and Burrell with 22 points and seven rebounds each.  The Mustangs will travel to Polytechnic on Thursday to play at 6:00.
