St. Mary's 64, VJC 54

Stevenson, MD.- The Mustangs hosted rival St. Mary's College in this afternoons match-up. Villa Julie dominated during the first half, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seahawks at the end of the game. 

Villa took a quick four point lead, 7-3, when Tanisha Foster (Baltimore, MD/ St. Frances Academy) stole the ball and Tara Galvin (Lititz, PA/ Manheim Township) hit a three-pointer at 17:19.  At 12:21, St. Mary's regained the lead, 9-7, off a set of free throws by Allie Scott.  The Mustangs bounced back and went up by as many as 11 points after Andrea Somerville (Hollywood, MD/ Leonardtown) stole the ball and Cara Hill (Oxon Hill, MD/ Oxon Hill) hit a layup to make the score 20-9 with 4:57 left in the half.  With less then a minute left in the first half St. Mary's cut the Mustang lead to only four points, 23-9.  Right before the buzzer, Tonia Cristino (Lancaster, PA/ Hempfield) stole the ball from the Seahawk's Kiely Murphy and took it down the court for a layup to make the halftime score 27-19. 

As soon as the second half began, St. Mary's went on a 10-point scoring run to put the Seahawks ahead 29-27.  At 17:43, Hill answered with a three-point shot to put the Mustangs back on top, 30-29, which was the last time the Mustangs had the lead.  After that, the Seahawks went up by as many as 14 points on three different occasions.  Somerville hit a layup with 14 seconds left in the game to make the final score- St. Mary's 64, Villa Julie 54. 

With the loss, the Mustangs' record is 15-8 overall and 11-3 in the NEAC.  The Mustangs take the road to Philadelphia Biblical on Tuesday to play at 6 pm.
