Mustangs Fall in Home Match

The Villa Julie squad hosted conference foe Wesley College in tonight’s match.

Wesley began the game with a lead, grabbing three points before Ashley Burrell (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) put the Mustangs on the board with a lay-up at 16:40. The Wolverines continued to outscore the Mustangs to end the half leading by ten points, 37-27.

Villa Julie returned in the second half determined to close the gap. At the 3:22 mark, Tanisha Foster (Baltimore, MD/St. Frances Academy) narrowed the gap to four points with a successful lay-up followed by a free-throw, 55-51. The Mustangs battled throughout the second half and scored more points than Wesley, but were unable to the overcome first half deficit. After a number of Mustang fouls, Wesley took the win 63-56.

Foster led the team with 25 points and 12 rebounds. The Mustangs look to their next game against Gallaudet University to end their two-game. They travel to Gallaudet on February 6 for a 6 p.m. match.
