Mustangs Go On Winning Streak

Stevenson, MD- The Mustangs kicked off the 10th Annual Legg Mason Winter Classic this afternoon against Penn State York.  The Mustangs (3-8) defeated the Nittany Lions (3-5) 56-35. 

Allison Humphries (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) started off strong hitting the net within seconds to give the Mustangs their initial momentum that carried throughout the game.  Humphries went on to steal the ball from the Nittany Lions and teammate Jessica Schisler (Bel Air, MD/Harford Christian) finished it up with a lay-up.  Penn State remained scoreless until the 17 minute mark when Lindsay Mumma sunk a free throw. 

The Mustang defense kept the Nittany Lions out of the net and only to 10 points at the half.  Villa was up at the half 33-10.

The Mustangs continued their domination in the second half.  Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill, MD/Fallston) put the Mustangs up by 33 which was their largest lead of the day.  Humphries led the scoring for the day with 20 points; Steiner had a double-double of 19 points and 20 boards.

The Mustangs will play against Kean (10-1) tomorrow at 2 pm in the Championship round of the tournament. 

In the second game of the day, PSU-Berks was defeated by Kean 106-52.  PSU-Berks will be playing PSU-York in the Consolation round tomorrow at noon.
