Villa Bests Cross-Town Rival

Stevenson, MD-  The Mustangs returned to the court to down their local-rival, College of Notre Dame Gators, 57-48.  The Mustangs started out the game behind the Gators but grabbed the lead at the 15-minute mark and never turned it back over.

The Mustang defense held the Gators to only 3 points until 10 minutes left in the half.  A Gator turnover led to Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill, MD/Fallston) hitting a two-pointer to put the Mustangs up 6-3.  The Mustangs went up by as many as 11 points multiple times in the first half.  Villa was up 29-23 at the half.

In the second half, both teams returned to the court with intensity.  However, the Mustangs maintained control of the court and held the Gators to only within three-points of the lead and only score eight points in the last eight minutes of the game.

Steiner led the team with double-double numbers of 10 boards and 13 points, going 3-3 from the paint and 7-8 from the line.  Tanisha Foster (Baltimore, MD/ St. Frances Academy) had team high in rebounding with 11.  Tara Galvin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) also broke into double digits with 10 points.
