Mustangs Fall to No. 5 Marymount (Va.) at Home, 47-27

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's basketball team held No. 5-ranked Marymount (Va.) to its lowest point total since 2007, but shot just 20.0 percent from the floor, including 14.3 percent in the second half, as the Saints won its 15th-straight, 47-27 Wednesday night at Student Union Gymnasium.
The last time Marymount (15-0, 6-0 CAC) scored fewer than 47 points was on Feb. 24, 2007 when the team lost at Mary Washington in the title game of the CAC Women's Basketball Championship, 53-42.
Stevenson limited the Saints to a season-low 26.4 percent shooting from the floor, including 4-of-20 from three-point range, and forced 21 turnovers, but Marymount held a 50-33 edge in rebounding and went 15-of-21 from the free throw line.
Sophomore forward Daniela Poss (Brookeville/Good Counsel) led the Mustangs (3-9, 1-4 CAC) with a career-high eight points while junior forward Kristen Steiner (Fallston/Fallston) added a team-high six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
The Saints led by just nine with 12:06 left in the second half before a 14-2 run gave them their largest lead of the game at 21, 43-22 with 4:44 to play.
Stevenson scored three of the game's first four points to take a 3-1 lead before Marymount tied the game at 3-3 with 16:58 remaining, but a 19-8 run by the Saints put them in front by 11 with just over four minutes left.
Amanda Billy scored 11 of Marymount's 22 first half points as the team led by eight at the half. Terrell White totaled 14 of her game-high 20 in the second half as she and Billy combined for 33 of the Saints' 47 points. Christina LaVigna and Julie Tomesheski each had a game-high eight rebounds.
Stevenson travels to York (Pa.) on Saturday for a CAC contest with the Spartans beginning at 5:00 p.m.
