Mustangs' Daniela Poss Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's basketball senior Daniela Poss (Brookeville, Md./Good Counsel) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A chemistry major with a 4.0 GPA, Poss was one of only five players to be selected to the All-District Team in District 2 that includes every NCAA Division III school in Connecticut, Washignton D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
Poss is currently second on the team in scoring at 8.1 points per game while shooting a team-best 41.4 percent from the floor and ranking second in blocks with 14. She is averaging 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in 92 career games, ranking in the top-10 in school history in games played, rebounds, free throws made, free throw percentage, steals and blocks.
Poss was one of two players selected from the CAC as Marymount (Va.) junior Katelyn Fischer was chosen to the All-District Team in District 5.
First-team Academic All-District honorees, 40 players representing eight districts, advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second and third-team All-America honoreers will be selected later this month.
Poss is the third Stevenson student-athlete since 2008 and second this year to be named Academic All-District. She joins women's soccer senior Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), who became the school's first Capital One Academic All-America selection after earning third team honors in November, and Cat Connelly '08.
