OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Senior Emily Haas of the Stevenson University women's golf team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large team for District 2, it was announced Thursday afternoon. Haas is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large program consists of student-athletes from women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's rowing, men's and women's fencing, field hockey, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo, and men's wrestling.
Haas becomes the second Stevenson women's golf student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors, as Alicia Greene received the honor in 2016. Haas becomes the 18th Stevenson student-athlete, and the fourth in 2016-17, to earn Academic All-District accolades.
Haas, a Fashion Merchandising major with a 4.0 GPA, is a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference All-Conference performer who has helped lead the Mustangs to a pair of conference titles in 2015 and 2016 and a second place finish in this year's MAC Championship. A two-time winner of the NCAA Elite 90 Award for having the highest GPA at the NCAA women's golf championship, Haas is also a two-time MAC All-Academic selection. She was also recently named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner for women's golf from among the conference's 17 institutions.
Stevenson's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee for 2016-17, Haas also recently received Stevenson's Dean Dawson Award for having the highest cumulative GPA of a graduating senior. Haas was also the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Athletes' Choice Award winner.
