Perez, Mustangs in First After Round One of MAC Championship

WHITE HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman Amanda Perez leads the field by a stroke after shooting a six-over par 78 in the opening round of the MAC Championship, held at the Mount Laurel Golf Club. The Mustangs are also sitting atop the leaderboard in the team standings by seven strokes over second-place Alvernia, with a score 323. Stevenson had four players finish in the top 10. 

Sophomore Laura Rentz finished two strokes back of Perez an into a tie for third with an eight-over par 80. Junior Julia Kline notched an 81 to finish the day in fifth.

Completing the team score for the Mustangs was sophomore Emma VanDeCar, who carded an 84. VanDeCar is tied for eighth after the first of two rounds.

Sophomore Elise Glauser shot a 93 for Stevenson. 

Stevenson will be looking for its third MAC Championship title when the tournament concludes on Sunday, April 28. Perez will be shooting for the Mustangs' second MAC Individual championship.
