ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A day after sweeping the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Player of the Week, Stevenson women's ice hockey senior Chelsea Ellis and junior Caitie Darosa were named the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively.
It is the third player of the week honor for the Mustangs (12-7-4) in the UCHC this season as both junior Kellen Wittman and senior Chelsea Blackburn earned the honor in December. Meanwhile, it is the second Goalie of the Week honor for Darosa in the league this season.
Ellis netted her first career hat trick and finished with a career-high five points as she also dished out a pair of assists in an important 7-3 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) win over Neumann. The senior also went 29-for-48 at the faceoff dot in the two-game sweep versus the Knights. Ellis has seven points in her last five games.
In net, Darosa stopped 26-of-27 shots in her lone star of the week, a 3-1 win over Neumann that jumped the Mustangs ahead of the Knights in the UCHC standings. The junior stopped 14-of-15 shots in the third period, while also stopping all seven shots on the Stevenson penalty kills. Darosa in unbeaten in her last five starts, and has posted a 4-1-1 record in her last six.
Stevenson concludes the regular season with a two-game series to decide the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) champion at Manhattanville beginning on Friday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. The Valiants currently hold the sixth and final UCHC playoff spot.
