ROCHESTER, N.Y. - After posting a career-high 40 saves in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) tie versus Manhattanville, Stevenson women's ice hockey junior Annie Smyth-Hammond was named the UCHC Goaltender of the Week announced by the league on Tuesday.
It is the second UCHC weekly honor for Smyth-Hammond and seventh overall after three Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Defensive Players of the Week last season. Smyth-Hammond also earned two weekly honors her rookie year in the Colonial Hockey Conference.
The junior assistant captain stopped 48 of 52 shots she faced in the two-game series versus the Valiants. Smyth-Hammond played the final 10:51 in the opening loss and stopped eight of nine shots. In her start on Saturday, she made 40 saves on 43 shots in a 3-3 overtime tie, including 16 saves in the third and overtime period combined.
Stevenson returns to action on Friday, November 9 when the Mustangs travel to William Smith for a two-game UCHC series. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
