Seahawks Garner First Conference Win of Year Over VJC

Towson, MD- The Mustangs open their season with a loss to St. Mary's College (Md.), 17-10.

The Seahawks took the lead with a goal by Lauren Carrier after three minutes of play. St. Mary's continued to extend the gap, until Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) put Villa on the board with an unassisted goal, 5-1. The first half ended with a score of 7-3, St. Mary's.

At the 28:35 mark, Zegowitz scored another goal. Only twelve seconds later, Brittany Connelly (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) grabbed a goal to bring the score to 7-5. However, St. Mary's never allowed the Mustangs to pass them in the score for a final of 17-10.

Leaders for the Mustangs include Zegowitz with three goals and Jamie Jones (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) with two goals.

The Mustangs are 0-1. They return to the field on Saturday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m versus top-ten ranked Mary Washington.
