Mustangs Fall 14-13 on Goal in the Final Minute

Towson, MD.-

The Mustangs travel to cross-town rival Goucher College and fall 14-13 on a goal by the Gophers Sandy Okun in the final minute of the game.  VJC fell behind 6-2 in the first 14 minutes of the game, but kept fighting behind 3 Brittany Connelly (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) first half goals to go into halftime trailing 9-6.  With seven minutes to go in the game, the Mustangs looked to be beaten as they trailed 13-9, but VJC never gave up and scored four straight goals to knot the game at 13 with 2:09 to go.  Villa played even for the next minute but gave up the game-winner with under a minute left.  The loss takes the Mustangs to 0-3 on the year and 0-2 in the CAC.

VJ was led offensively by Connelly who tallied four goals and an assist.  Sophomore Julie Olson (Spofford, NH/Keene) also finished well scoring three goals for Villa.

The Mustangs are back in action on Sunday when the host fellow CAC member Hood College for a 1pm start.
