Mustangs Win 16-12

Owings Mills, MD.- The Mustangs beat Baltimore area rival College of Notre Dame. This closely matched competition allowed neither team to enjoy more than a three goal lead. The Mustangs were first to strike with two goals by Mandi Carr (Crownsville, MD/Old Mill) and Julie Olson (Spofford, NH/Keene) just five minutes into the contest. CND fired back with two goals to even the score 2-2.

Jamie Jones (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) broke the tie with a goal assisted by Cat Connelly (Fallston, MD/Fallston). The Mustangs never looked back with two additional goals from Ashley Cathcart (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) and Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus). CND cut the lead to one, but a buzzer beater goal by Cat Connelly assisted by Cathcart gave the Mustangs an 8-6 half time advantage.

The second half proved to be more of the first with back and forth scoring, but the Mustangs pulled out a 16-12 victory.

Jamie Jones finished the contest with 4 goals; Mandi Carr, Meghan Smith (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island), Ashley Cathcart, Cat Connelly, and Julie Olson all contributed 2 goals apiece, and Lauren Zegowitz added one goal. The Mustangs improve to 3-5 overall and are back in action on Saturday hosting Steven's Institute of Technology.
