Mustangs Lose 15-9 to McDaniel
Owings Mills, MD- The Mustangs hosted local rival McDaniel Green Terror this afternoon.
The first half was a tough battle between both teams. McDaniel opened the game up with two goals within five minutes of play. Villa Julie went on the board at 22:54 when Krystina Hnzida (Manchester , MD / North Carroll) scored off of an assist by Meghan Smith (Stevensville , MD / Kent Island ). McDaniel answered with a quick goal but the Mustang offense stepped up and went on a three-goal scoring run. Nikki Miller (Glen Burnie , MD / Northeast), Cat Connelly (Fallston , MD / Fallston), and Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg , MD / Damascus ) each scored goals to regain the lead, 4-3, from the Green Terror. McDaniel hit the goal two times in a row to steal the lead, 5-4. Villa scored at 6:08 to be all square at 5 with the Terror. McDaniel scored once more to end the half on top 6-5.
McDaniel opened up the second half with a quick goal and dominated the field for the rest of the game. They only allowed the Mustangs to score four more goals the rest of the game. Connelly scored her second goal of the day at 23:48. Smith offensively ran the field for the Mustangs scoring the remaining three goals of the day. McDaniel earned the 15-9 win at the end of the day. Goalie Kait Brzozowski (Bel Air, MD/ Fallston) had a total of 16 saves for the day.
With the loss the Mustangs' record falls to 4-8. Villa will be traveling to Catholic on Thursday, April 5, to play at 4:00.
