Villa Falls to CAC Opponent at Home

Owings Mills, MD - Villa hosted St. Mary’s (Md.) in today’s game where they earned a loss of 13-10. The Mustangs (5-4, 1-4 CAC) took 46 shots to St. Mary’s (7-3, 3-0 CAC) 24 while they both tallied 23 groundballs each. Impressive defense by St. Mary’s goalkeeper Ella Schoming, earning 20 saves for the match, prevented multiple Villa goals.

Scoring opened in the first half with a goal by the Seahawks at 29:37. It was followed a minute later by Villa’s Jamie Jones (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) assisted by Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus). St. Mary’s then scored four consecutive goals in a four minute span before an unassisted Zegowitz goal put a stop to their run. Back and forth scoring from both sides resulted in a first half score of 9-4 with St. Mary’s leading.

The Mustangs led the second half scoring six goals to the Seahawk’s four, but were unable to overcome the first half deficit.

Zegowitz led the Mustangs with three goals and two assists for the day. Jones also tallied three goals, followed by Cat Connelly (Fallston, MD/Fallston) with two goals and two assists, and Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) and Megan Weiss (Odenton, MD/Elizabeth Seton) with one goal each.

The Mustangs return to the field as they travel to McDaniel on April 3rd for a 4:00 p.m. game.
