Women's Lax Smashes Haverford

Owings Mills, MD- The Mustangs (8-4) hosted
Haverford (5-8) in today’s match, winning 22-10. Villa
out-shot Haverford 41 to 20 and won 22 of 34 draw controls.
Villa opened the scoring only 14 seconds into the game with an
unassisted goal by Lauren
Zegowitz. Haverford returned with a goal one
minute later to even the score. The Mustangs then went a 13 goal
run before Haverford managed to score again with 7:45 remaining.
Haverford tallied three more goals, while Villa added two to go
into the second half with Villa leading 16-5.
The second period showed the Mustangs maintaining their lead and
dominance of the field. For the half, Haverford scored five goals
and the Mustangs tallied six for a final of 22-10.
Jamie Jones led the team with five goals and one
assist. Also contributing to the Villa win were Lisa
Baker and Kristyna Hnizda with four goals
each; Lauren Zegowitz with three goals;
Megan Weiss and Brittany Connelly
with two goals; and Cat Connelly and Julie
Olson with one goal each.
The Mustangs are back in action on April 12 at Marymount with a
3:00 p.m. start.
