Salisbury Ends Mustang's CAC Quest

Salisbury, MD - The Villa Julie College Women's Lacrosse Team traveled to the number one team in the country, Salisbury University, aiming to capture another upset in the CAC Tournament. The fifth seeded Mustangs had beaten the fourth seed York College on Sunday and were looking to add another scalp to their historic eight game win streak.
The Mustangs started at a slow pace with Salisbury scoring three goals in the first three minutes. CAC player of the week Lauren Zegowitz did not let Salisbury's early lead get the team down by scoring fifteen seconds after the Sea Gulls third to cut the lead to two. Three more goals for Salsibury left the Mustangs staring at a five goal deficit. Villa did not give up and Zegowitz's second goal and Jamie Jones first goal of the game cut the gap to three with nine minutes played. That was to be as close as the Mustangs would get to Salisbury, as eleven unanswered goals for the Sea Gulls ended the first half with the score 17-3.
Villa continued to work hard and with only twenty seconds gone in the second half they scored through freshman Lisa Baker. The game would then swing back and forward with Salisbury scoring six more goals to Villa's three. Scoring the goals for the Mustangs were, Kristina Hnizda, Brittany Hilton and Zegowitz capped of her hat-trick. In the end, the Mustangs could not overpower the Sea Gulls, losing 23-7.
The Mustang's last regular season game will be on the road against the College of Notre Dame on April 28th at 4pm.
