OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Sophomore Megan Weiss (Odenton/Seton) scored five goals and the Stevenson University women's lacrosse netted the game's first nine en route to a 15-6 victory over Marymount (Va.) in the quarterfinals of the CAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Saturday at Caves Athletics Complex.

The Mustangs (10-6) advance to the semifinals on Tuesday at Salisbury where they will face the top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Sea Gulls for the second-straight year. Last season, Salisbury won 23-7 on April 22, 2008.

The win also marked the second consecutive season that Stevenson has won at least 10 games, marking the first time since 1998. It was also the team's fourth-straight win at home.

Weiss scored three of the Mustangs' first six goals and four of their 10 first half goals as they led 10-1 at halftime.

Freshmen Kirstin Gancarz (Crownsville/Old Mill) and Spencer Kraus (Mt. Airy/South Carroll) each had two first half goals while sophomore Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) added one goal and one assist.

Kraus also had four ground balls and two draw controls.

Baker added a second half goal, her team-leading 44th of the season, to finish the game with three points. Junior Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester/North Carroll) also finished with two goals.

Stevenson held a 44-18 advantage in shots, including 28-8 in the first half where it also held a 19-11 edge in ground balls.
