WESTMINSTER, Md. - Erinn Hopkins scored on a free-position goal with 53 seconds remaining to give the McDaniel women's lacrosse team an 8-7 victory over No. 19 Stevenson Tuesday afternoon at Bair Stadium in a match-up of two undefeated teams.

The loss snapped a seven game regular season win streak for the Mustangs (5-1) who received their first-ever national ranking on Monday.

Stevenson trailed 7-5 with less than seven minutes left before sophomore Kirstin Gancarz (Crownsville/Old Mill) and senior Brittany Connelly (Catonsville/Catonsville) scored just 55 seconds apart to tie the game with 5:26 to play.

After Hopkins gave McDaniel (4-0) the lead, Stevenson had two chances to tie the game in the final 31 seconds, but shots by senior Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester/North Carroll) and junior Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) were both saved by the Green Terror's Leanne Hollinger who had 10 in the second half.

Hollinger and Mustang sophomore Jenny Schroeder (Severna Park/Seton Keough) each had 13 saves.

Gancarz tied a career-high with three goals for the second time in the last three games while also adding an assist. Baker also finished with three goals and one assist while junior Megan Weiss (Odenton/Seton) had two assists.

Stevenson led for most of the first half as both teams exchanged goals before the Green Terror's Brittany Baer scored with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 4-4 at halftime.

McDaniel's Brittany Lines opened the second half with back-to-back goals in 35 seconds to push the lead to two.

Baer and Lines each finished with two goals to lead the Green Terror.

Stevenson heads to West Palm Beach, Florida next week for Spring Break where they will play two games against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Nazareth. The Mustangs take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m.
