Six Different Goal Scorers Highlight Mustangs' 19-3 Victory Over Hope

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse junior Marissa Meiklejohn (Severn, Md./Old Mill) recorded a season-high six points to lead six different goal scorers en route to a 19-3 victory over first-year program Hope, Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.

The win for the Mustangs (5-1) was their fifth straight and fourth straight at home as they are now 8-1 in the past two seasons when playing at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs 19 goals was the highest goal total since a 20-4 win over Frostburg State on April 11, 2012.

Junior Leah Warner (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) scored the games first two goals just 15 seconds apart. She would also score a third first half goal and assist on another to finish with four points.

With 18:17 remaining in the first half, freshman Shelby Walter (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) would score her first career-goal to make the score 9-0.

After an 11-0 run to open the game, the Flying Dutch (0-4) got on the board on an unassisted goal by Laurie Stubenrauch.

In the second half, Meiklejohn and sophomore Kathryn Merrick (Bel Air, Md./Forest Hill) each scored two goals with Meiklejohn assisting on both of Merrick's goals. Merrick would add an assist on one of Meiklejohns goals, finishing with four points.

Frehsman Emma Sunness (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) scored her first career-goal as junior Megan Beckman (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) scored her first goal of the season.

Sophomore Amanda LeGar (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) totaled a career-high nine draw controls and added two goals and an assist.

LeGar, junior Mandy Marston (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) and sophomore Meg Gill (White Hall, Md./North Harford) all totaled three caused turnovers.

Frehsman Morgan Gallagher (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) picked up three ground balls.

Stevenson hosts a non-conference contest on Saturday when they face Wittenburg beginning at 1:00 p.m.
