GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Stevenson women's lacrosse team moved up two spots in the latest IWLCA Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday, receiving its highest-ever ranking at No. 15. The Mustangs are one of two teams from the Commonwealth Conference to be ranked this week.
Stevenson (15-1, 8-0 MAC), winners of 15 in-a-row, went undefeated in its first season in the Commonwealth Conference, earning the top-seed in this week's Commonwealth Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
The Mustangs' previous highest ranking was No. 17 which they received last week and on Mar. 24, 2012.
Two opponents from Stevenson's 2013 schedule are also listed in this week's poll as in-state rival Salisbury is at No. 2 and conference-rival Messiah is at No. 19. The Mustangs defeated Messiah at home 13-8 last Wednesday and lost 19-5 at Salisbury in their season opener on February 23.
Since 2010, the Mustangs have spent a total of 18 weeks in the national poll, spending six weeks in the national rankings that year, three in 2011 and seven in 2012.
Stevenson hosts Lebanon Valley in the semifinals of the 2013 Commonwealth Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship on Thursday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Dutchmen on the road on March 28, 9-8.
