Mustangs Score 10 In Win

Owings Mills, MD - The Villa Julie Women's soccer team found the back of the net ten times against conference opponent Gallaudet University. The Mustangs ended their two game goal drought in style with seven different players getting on the scoresheet.

With only 22 seconds played in the game, freshman Allison Humphries (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) scored after being sent through by a great pass from freshman Heather Redding (Street, MD/North Harford). The next goal went in 17 minutes later when senior Bethany Ferralli (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) scored with a great shot from the edge of the box. Laura Robinson (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and Jen Rosenberger (Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) both scored two goals each and Kelly Townley (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) and Jess Celmer (Baltimore, MD/Mt. Carmel) made the half time score 8-0. Villa Julie outshot Gallaudet 45-0 in the first half.

In the second half Laura Robinson crossed the ball into the box for Rose Phelan (Carney, MD/Loch Raven) to head the ball past the keeper.  The win was sealed when Jen Rosenberger hit her third goal for a hat-trick with a header from another Laura Robinson cross.  The Mustangs also achieved their first shutout of the season by stopping Gallaudet getting any shots on goal. The Mustangs record improves to 7-6 and 3-3 in the CAC.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday 13th October in non-conference action when they face nationally ranked Swarthmore College in a 1pm kick-off.
