Mustangs End Season in CAC Quarterfinals
York, PA- The Mustangs headed to York to take on the Spartans in the Capital Athletic Conference Quarterfinal game on Sunday afternoon. The Mustangs played a hard game in tough weather conditions leading the Mustangs to fall 2-0 to the Spartans.
Michele Sadowski (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) and Allison Humphries (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) helped control the Mustang side of the field and keep York to only 2 goals. The first goal was in the first half, when Erin Kuhn hit the net off of a cross and the second came off of a penalty kick rewarded to the Spartans after goalie Casey Brown (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) had fouled one of the York forwards. Brown saved the penalty kick but could not prevent the rebound goal.
Katie Orlando (Perry Hall/Perry Hall) led the Mustangs with two shots. Jen Rosenberger (Glen Arm,MD/Loch Raven) and Kelly Townley (Perry Hall, MD/John Carroll) each got off one shot on the York goalkeeper. Brown was credited with 11 saves on the day.
This concludes the Mustangs 2007 season with a 8-11 overall record. This was their first season in the CAC and according to Coach Millar, "We upset some teams, lost many close games, and considering the amount of injuries to key players- this was a very successful season. We proved that we will be contenders in the strong Capital Athletic Conference and I am proud of every player on this team."
