Matlock, Novy Each Score Three Points as Mustangs Post 4-0 Win at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Stevenson women's soccer senior Samantha Novy (Severna Park/Severna Park) and sophomore Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland) both tied a season-high with three points on a goal and one assist as the Mustangs posted a 4-0 road victory over local rival McDaniel Wednesday.

Stevenson (6-3-2) extended its unbeaten streak to four while improving its road unbeaten streak to three. The team held a 22-5 advantage in shots and did not surrender a corner kick, holding a 10-0 margin.

The game-winning score came on an own goal by the Green Terror in the 21st minute on a failed clear attempt.

Matlock followed that up just 2:33 later with her team-leading fourth goal of the season on a rocket from 20 yards out that gave the Mustangs a 2-0 lead which they would take into halftime.

Novy scored for the second consecutive game in the 68th minute off a feed from Matlock before freshman Meaghan Williams (Dundalk/Dundalk) added her second career goal, all in the last four games, off an assist from Novy to cap the scoring in the 71st minute.

Senior Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) was required to make just two saves in earning her fifth shutout of the season while Kristin Cochran and Jan Woolley combined to make seven saves for McDaniel (1-6).

Stevenson returns home to face Hood in a CAC contest Saturday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m.
