Johnson Extends Shutout Streak to 222 Minutes, Mustangs Down Pride, 2-0
CHESTER, Pa. - Stevenson women's soccer freshman Ashlyn Hawbaker (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) netted the game-winner in the 58th minute leading the Mustangs to a 2-0 victory over Widener, thus extending their undefeated streak to three Wednesday evening at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
Hawbaker is second on the team with eight points, tied with sophomore Meaghan Williams (Dundalk, Md./Dundalk) who tallied her team-leading fourth assist on the goal.
Stevenson (8-4-1, 2-1-1 MAC) ended their streak of 174:46 without a goal, after 50 consecutive shot attempts not finding the back of the net over the last three games.
The Pride (5-6-1, 2-2 MAC) were outshot 25-9, but did hold an edge in corner kicks 4-0.
Junior Catherine Madden (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) added an insurance goal, her first of the season, with 12 minutes remaining off a helper from junior Jennifer Simkin (Halethorpe, Md./Centennial) for her fifth point of the year.
Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week freshman goalkeeper Allison Johnson (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) has not allowed a goal since the third minute against Lebanon Valley on October 2, spanning 222:03, and with tonight's win is 5-0 with a goals against average of 0.66 and an .897 save percentage.
Stevenson returns to action Saturday when they travel to Lycoming for a Commonwealth Conference contest. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
