OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's soccer team will kick off its 2013 season on Saturday, August 31 against Eastern beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the two-day Kick-Off Classic hosted by Haverford College.

Last season the Mustangs tied a school record 15 wins en route to winning the ECAC Division III South Championhip, the first posteseason championship in team history. The team finished the season unbeaten in 12 of its last 13 games, posting a 9-1-3 record.

Led by senior Jamie Matlock (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland), Stevenson returns its top five scorers from last season and four All-Commonwealth Conference selections. Matlock totaled seven goals and three assists for 17 points. She finished second on the team in assists and points.

The Mustangs were picked to finish tied for second in their second season in the Commonwealth Conference by the league's coaches. The team fell short a season ago, falling to eventual National Champions, Messiah, in the conference championship game.

Eastern finished last season with a 10-6-4 record, falling in the Freedom Conference championship game to Misericordia, an eventual NCAA Final Four team. This season they were picked to finish third in the conference after graduating All-American goalie Alysia Goodman.

Stevenson will wrap-up the Kick Off Tournament against host Haverford on Sunday, September 1. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
