OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson women's soccer team outshot Widener 25-3 while scoring two second half goals en route to handing the Pride their first loss in 13 contests this season with a 3-1 victory Wednesday night at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (9-4-0, 2-0-0 MAC) remained undefeated in conference play and now find themselves in a three-way tie atop the Commonwealth Conference standings with Arcadia and Elizabethtown.
Freshman Jordan Porretto (Lake Grove, N.Y./Ward Melville) scored the game's first goal from the top of the box in the 30th minute.
The Pride (11-1-1, 1-1-0 MAC) got on the board 10 minutes later when Jenna Pedrick scored off an assist from Karen Thomas for her fifth goal of the season.
Senior Mackenzie Calhoun (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) broke a 1-1 halftime tie just two minutes into the second half when she took a pass from junior Meaghan Williams (Dundalk, Md./Dundalk) for her third goal of the year.
Senior Catherine Madden (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) also added her third goal of the season, an insurance goal just seven minutes later, off a double assist from senior Mandy Marston (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) and junior Gabrielle Kuhar (Ocean View, N.J./Holy Spirit).
Freshman Annie McCoach (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale) recorded her ninth win in goal for the Mustangs while Valerie Perretti fell to 11-1-1.
Stevenson travels to Arcadia this Saturday for a first-place showdown with the Knights. Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
