OWINGS MILLS, Md. - For the sixth-straight season, the Stevenson women's soccer team has advanced to the postseason as the Mustangs have earned the top-seed in the 2013 ECAC Division III South Women's Soccer Championship and will host conference rival Alvernia on Wednesday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Stevenson (13-8-1) will be making its fifth appearance in the ECAC tournament in the last six years. The team won the championship a year ago with a 2-1 overtime victory versus Wilkes and advanced to the title game in 2011 before losing to Frostburg State, 1-0.
The Mustangs are 6-3 in four previous ECAC Division III South Championship appearances.
Stevenson was one of four teams from the Commonwealth Conference to earn a bid to this year's tournament, joining third-seeded Lebanon Valley (11-8-2), seventh-seeded Arcadia (11-4-5) and eighth-seeded Alvernia (11-7-2).
Wednesday's other first round contests include Arcadia at second-seeded McDaniel (13-5-1), sixth-seeded Swarthmore (9-5-2) at Lebanon Valley and fifth-seeded Juniata (14-5) at fourth-seeded Grove City (11-9-1).
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 16 at the
highest seed remaining while the championship will take place at the same site on Sunday, November 17.
