Mustangs Participate in Goucher Tournament
Towson, MD- The Mustangs headed to local-rival Goucher College for a tournament this afternoon. The lone bright spot of the day was when number 1 doubles- Lauren Humphries/Barbora Hnizda- defeated College of Notre Dame's Foster/Hollister, (6-1,6-2). They went on to fall to the duo of Grimm/Scott-Giry from Goucher (0-6, 1-6) and Penn State Berks' Biley/Schwarz (1-6, 6-3, 10-12). They finished in fourth place overall in the tournament.
At number 1 singles, Sarah Searing lost to Sarah Eisel from Frostburg (3-6, 3-6), Miku White, from Notre Dame (4-6, 5-7), and Carly Heinz from Goucher (0-6, 0-6). Searing finished in eighth place.
At number 2 singles, Melissa Venter was defeated by Frostburg's Caroline Shedd (0-6, 0-6), St. Mary's Monica Powell (0-6, 0-6), and Notre Dame's Meryl Krich (2-6, 0-6). Venter finished in eighth place.
At number 3 singles Meghan Henszey lost to Amanda Collins from St. Mary's (6-7, (7-5), 4-6), Notre Dame's Roxy Beranvand (3-6, 1-6) and Frostburg's Vicki Stafford (0-6, 0-6). Henszey finished in eighth place.
This concludes the Mustangs' fall season. They return to the courts when they head south to Hilton Head Island, SC for spring break.
