Katie Fersch and Svetlana Widell Lead Mustangs in 9-0 Loss to Catholic

STEVENSON, Md. - Despite the efforts of Stevenson women's tennis junior Katie Fersch (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) and sophomore Svetlana Widell (St. Michael's, Md./St. Michael's), the Mustangs dropped their second match of the Fall season Thursday, losing to Catholic, 9-0.

The duo of Fersch and Widell combined at No. 2 doubles to win the most games in doubles for Stevenson before falling to the Cardinal's Emma Needham and Maria Notarianni, 8-4.  Fersch and Widell each won one game at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, losing in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

In other singles action, freshman Alyssa Henry (North East, Md./Rising Sun) won the most games at No. 5 singles, eventually succumbing to Emma Needham 6-1, 6-2.

Stevenson will conclude its Fall season at the MAC Individual Championship at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on October 6-7.
