Mustangs Pick Up Second Win of the Season in 5-4 Triumph Over Montreat College

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson women's tennis team picked up its second win of the season in a 5-4 triumph over Montreat College (NC) at the PTR Spring TennisFest held at the Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort. 

Sophomores Jenna Skove and Kelsi Mentzer kicked things off with their second win in as many days with an 8-4 victory in No. 1 doubles. Junior Kirstyn Davidson and freshman Megan Waskiewicz won their No. 2 match in thrilling fashion, 9-8. 

In singles play, Mentzer cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 3, while Davidson took her No. 2 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Waskiewicz picked up her third win in a row, taking her No. 3 match by a 6-4, 6-2 score to clinch the victory for the Mustangs.

Skove and junior Christina Endy overcame one-set deficits in their No. 1 and No. 5 singles matches, but both would eventually fall in third-set tiebreaks.

The Mustangs (2-6) begin MAC Commonwealth play at Alvernia on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:30 pm.
