Mustangs Sweep Doubles Matches in 5-4 Win Over Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Stevenson women's tennis team took each of the three doubles matches en route to a 5-4 MAC Commonwealth road win over Lycoming. The win improves the Mustangs' conference record to 3-1. 

Sophomores Kelsi Mentzer and Jenna Skove pushed their record over the .500 mark with an 8-4 victory in No. 1 doubles. Mentzer and Skove are now 9-8 on the season. 

Junior Kirstyn Davidson and freshman Megan Waskiewicz improved to 5-6 after cruising to an 8-2 victory in No. 2, while freshmen Taelor Brown and Rebecca Connelly picked up their first win of the season as a duo in No. 3 by an 8-6 score. 

Waskiewicz improved her singles to record to 8-6 with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph in No. 4 singles.

Sophomore Nina Bretz clinched the victory for the Mustangs (5-7, 3-1 MAC) by winning her No. 6 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. 

Both Davidson and Mentzer dropped their respective matches in three sets. 

The Mustangs take the court next on the road against non-conference opponent Shenandoah (Winchester, Va.) on Sunday, March 15 at 12:00 pm.
